The OXID eShop has an integrated management of product stocks. So, the customer can be informed about a product’s availability. There are three different statuses to indicate a product’s availability: many, few or no products in stock. The status is displayed by a colored symbol and a notice text in the product details.
Product with sufficiently large quantities
A green symbol and the standard text Ready for shipping below the price inform of sufficient stock of product.
Product with low quantities
The color of the symbol below the price changes to orange. The standard text Low stock – order quickly! appears.
Product out of stock
A red symbol and the notice text This item is not in stock and must be reordered indicates that the product is sold out.
Before you can use the “Stock Management”, you need to activate it. This is done in Master Settings -> Core Settings, Settings tab. Select Stock to view the settings.
By default, the Activate Stock Management box is checked. With each order the quantity of a product will be reduced and the stock status updated. If the “Stock Management” function is deactivated, a green symbol will be displayed permanently in the product details.
With activated “Stock Management” function, further settings are available.
Allow negative Stock Values
This setting is only relevant if you purchase products from an external stock. With this setting activated, negative stock values will be calculated in case further items are ordered. If this setting is deactivated, a product’s stock value will never fall below 0, not even if further items are ordered while the product is already sold out.

Use default “in-stock” Message
If this setting is activated, Ready for shipping will be displayed as default message. This message is shown if no specific message for a product’s stock status has been entered. For each product, you can define a message different than the default message.
Use default “out-of-stock” Message
Also here, the default message is used if no specific message has been defined for a product. With this checkbox ticked, This item is not in stock and must be reordered will be shown as default message.
